The magazine estimated Arnault’s fortune at $211 billion (CZK 4.5 trillion), compared to Musk’s, it was $180 billion last year. In 2022, his fortune was estimated at $219 billion.
Musk dropped to second place due to the purchase of Twitter, for which he paid $44 billion last fall. However, the drop in Tesla shares also had an impact on the decline in Musk’s assets.
The third place this year belongs to the founder of the online store Amazon, Jeff Bezos. He, too, has worsened year-on-year – his assets have shrunk to 114 billion from last year’s 171 billion dollars.
Kellner holds the first place
Daniel Křetínský, the majority owner of the Energy and Industrial Holding (EPH), moved into second place among Czech billionaires, with assets of $9.2 billion (CZK 198.5 billion). The third is the owner of KKCG Karel Komárek with a fortune of 8.1 billion dollars (174.7 billion CZK).
Kellner, who is the widow of the group’s founder Petar Kellner, ranks 101st overall. Křetínský is in the 208th position among the world’s billionaires. The second place among the Czechs was mainly helped by rising energy prices, which was reflected in the multiplication of the profitability of his energy companies.
Michal Strnad, the owner of the industrial holding Czechoslovak Group, and Aleš Zavoral, the founder and head of the online store Alza, entered the list of dollar billionaires for the first time. Forbes noted that Zavoral controls Alza through the Cypriot company LS Investments Limited and has never provided proof that he is not its owner.
For the first time, 11 Czechs made it to the world ranking of dollar billionaires compiled by Forbes magazine.
