Levente boasted about his plan on social media. He wrote that he would soon turn eighteen, buy a gun and join a shooting club. Allegedly, he wanted to attack in the building of the elementary school, which he himself attended in the past.
“He regularly viewed videos of attacks on American schools on the Internet,” said Zsolt Jogg, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office. “After the crime, he wanted to commit suicide but admitted that he might not be able to. In that case, he would point his gun at the intervening police officers and want to die in a shootout with them,” added the spokesman.
His mother Henrietta told the daily Blikk that her son would not be capable of such an attack: “He is a closed boy whose best friend is our dog. He had problems integrating into the team, but he was not aggressive,” she said.
The mother only later learned that Levente was exposed to attacks by his classmates in elementary school, which could be the reason why he planned the attack there.
