In his speech on the occasion of welcoming new ambassadors to Russia, Putin traditionally took a sharp dig at Western countries, and even directly at the new American ambassador. He accused the United States of supporting the coup in Ukraine in 2014, which resulted in the current crisis in Ukraine.
At the end of his speech, however, there was almost complete silence in the hall, he did not even get a polite applause. In a video that appeared on social media, some ambassadors can be seen bowing slightly.
That awkward moment when you conclude a ceremony and no one applauds you. 🤣

At the end, Putin thanked for the attention, looked around awkwardly for a moment, and then added, just to be sure, that that was all. When nothing happened even then, he tried to save the situation with a short postscript.
“Unfortunately, we have to end the ceremony with this, as we cannot talk in person due to the still valid covid restrictions, but I am sure that we will have many opportunities to meet in the future,” Putin said. At the end, he thanked once more, wished everyone the best and left. No applause again.
