At the beginning of this year, the ethereum exchange rate was CZK 27,010. At the top was the second most famous cryptocurrency the year before last in November, when it traded for CZK 104,970.
Unfortunately, ethereum does not reach such values now, but even so, the rate remains at the highest value for the last eight months. Exactly a week ago, one virtual coin was traded for CZK 39,830, on the night from Thursday to Friday, the value jumped to CZK 44,650. Before noon, the exchange rate weakened slightly to CZK 44,380, but it is still one of the highest values since last August.

Other cryptocurrencies are also holding high rates. For example, bitcoin was traded for CZK 636,950 a week ago, on the night from Thursday to Friday it was already for CZK 651,920. On Friday before noon, it was already only CZK 646,860, but even that can be described as a record exchange rate. If we do not count the last week, the most famous cryptocurrency in the world was last traded for such an amount in July 2022.
At the end of February, bitcoin fell from CZK 551,440 to CZK 455,050. The decline was triggered by the fall of the Silvergate cryptobank. Bitcoin started this year at CZK 380,890, so far the absolute record was set in November 2021, when it was offered for CZK 1,427,350.
Analysts generally attribute the current growth of cryptocurrencies to upheavals in the banking sector, which have forced many investors to look for other ways to value their finances. Not only cryptocurrency rates shot upwards, but also government bonds and gold.

Bitcoins and other virtual currencies
There are many virtual currencies. One of the oldest and currently most popular are the so-called bitcoins. They were created as early as 2009, but have enjoyed greater popularity in recent years. This currency was created so that it cannot be influenced by any government or central bank.
Cybercoins are “minted” by a network of computers with specialized software programmed to release new coins at a steady but ever-decreasing rate. The number of coins in circulation should eventually reach 21 million, which should happen around 2140.
