The survey revealed that four-fifths of the population have never used TikTok, and even 30 percent of people do not even know the app. Among the reasons people stopped using TikTok was privacy concerns, cited by 42 percent of those surveyed, 38 percent of people said the app had stopped being fun, and 18 percent said they were trying to limit their time on their mobile phone.
An interesting result of the survey was the finding that half of the people are concerned about the security of the data that the TikTok application collects. Among young people under the age of 24, it was even up to 73 percent of respondents.
“It turns out that young people are surprisingly more concerned about the data that TikTok collects about them than their parents,” said Michael Bouška, co-author of the research.

Cyber Security Authority Warning
At the beginning of March, the Czech National Office for Cyber and Information Security (NÚKIB) issued a warning about the Chinese program. “I proceeded to issue the warning based on a comprehensive analysis of information about the TikTok application, which we obtained both from public sources and from our allies,” said NÚKIB director Lukáš Kintr.
“The amount of data collected and its handling, combined with the legal environment in China and the growing number of users in the Czech Republic, give us no choice but to label TikTok as a security threat,” he added.
The warning also applies to the general public. “The warning does not differentiate between public and private sector users. What is crucial for me is whether a threat to a specific system could have a negative impact on the functioning of the Czech Republic and the safety of each of us,” added Kintr.
Twelve percent of workers reported that their company either completely banned TikTok from work devices or advised them to uninstall it. Five percent of employers surveyed informed their employees of the potential risks associated with the use of TikTok, but left it up to them to decide whether to use it. Fortunately for most people (83 percent), employers are not concerned about using TikTok on work devices.
1308 respondents participated in the NMS Market Research survey this month.
How TikTok works
TikTok is most popular especially among teenagers, who, according to some statistics, already use it more often than Facebook. Of course, among the users of this Chinese social network, we can also find older generations.
The principle of this online service is very simple, it is based on very short videos that are played one after the other. It’s the same as if you were viewing posts on Facebook and the screen scrolled itself to more and more posts.
But instead of text, they play prime videos on TikTok, short recordings with a length of three to 60 seconds. And just such a short length seems to be a recipe for success, because in the US the Chinese social network has even surpassed Snapchat and Instagram.
At first it was possible to record videos of only 15 seconds, later it was possible to publish up to three-minute clips. Video content can now be up to ten minutes long.
Although short videos are still popular, many users are able to spend several hours a day on TikTok.
The defense did not work. A blanket ban on TikTok is imminent in the US
