“Former mayors Marek Sikora, Petr Koziel and Renata Kopečná delivered written resignations to the mayor of the municipality today. Elections to the municipal council should be held again in the municipality within the statutory period,” said three resigning Hrčav councilors in a statement sent to the editorial office of Právo on Monday.
They said they decided to take this step after long discussions and on the basis of considering all the circumstances. “In particular, we took into account the atmosphere in the village, when roughly half of the voters are not satisfied with the development in the village, despite the result of the February elections, in which SNK Hyrčovjana won 52.91 percent of the vote,” they explain, adding that they believe that by resigning from the the mandates open the possibility for the situation in the municipality to be resolved again in the only possible legitimate way, which is elections.
The mayor of Hrčav Petr Vyšlan (SNK Hyrčovjaně) confirmed the information. He said that the information about the resignation of the representatives was fresh for him and that in addition to them, three of the four substitutes also resigned. “There is one left according to my information. If we managed to convince him, the elections would not have to be repeated, there would be five of us,” said the mayor.
The regular autumn elections in Hrčava were won by the Pro Hrčava grouping with a gain of 51.18 percent, and thus four mandates in the seven-member council. However, the leader of the SNK Hyrčovjana candidate, Martin Koper, contested the election result, and the Regional Court in Ostrava decided to repeat it. According to his senate, the result was influenced by purposefully registered voters who acquired permanent residence shortly before the elections in two properties belonging to Mayor Sikora, one of which is also uninhabitable.
Repeated elections ended with the opposite result, 52.91 percent, and thus four mandates, were won by SNK Hyrčovjane. In the autumn elections, 220 people were registered in the list of eligible voters, in the repeat elections in February there were 210, and the voter turnout reached 85.71 percent. In the autumn elections, the difference between the groups was 27 votes, in the repeated February elections it was 70 votes.
The repeated elections in Hrčava were won by the group that came second in September
