Explosions are also reported from the metropolis of Kyiv and the cities of Kremenchuk, Poltava and Mykolaiv. From the Ukrainian capital, the media reports on several explosions. It is not yet clear if it was a rocket explosion or air defense strikes. Local authorities said air defenses were working and urged residents to remain calm and stay in shelters until the alert ended. It was announced at 4:20 local time (3:20 CEST).
Explosions were also heard in the capital, where, according to Ukrainian authorities, 11 missiles and two drones were shot down. None of them apparently hit the city. The capital has not been attacked by rockets for 50 days.
The attacks came a day after Moscow signaled it would welcome anything that would bring an end to the conflict. At the same time, Russia itself provoked it with its attack last February.
