The special hologram show is called ABBA Voyage and many creators participated in its creation. According to information from the British newspaper The Guardian, a thousand animators collaborated on the digitization of the musicians. Band members were captured by one hundred and twenty special cameras. During the concert, they are projected on a sixty-five meter high pixel screen.
The creators also took care of sound processing and transmission. The audience listens to vocals from almost three hundred speakers during the performance.
The opening concert took place on 26 May 2022 in the ABBA arena in London, built especially for these events. Since then, according to MusicRadar, more than one million tickets have been sold and the show has received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
“And then, much like when you first saw the unconvincingly realistic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, your eyes suddenly give in to the experience. All initial doubts disappear and suddenly the musicians seem really alive,” wrote the American weekly Variety, for example.
Due to the great success, the organizers have changed the date for the last concert, from May 28, 2023 to January 29, 2024. Due to the recent death of ABBA guitarist Lasse Wellander, it can be assumed that there will be a lot of interest in buying tickets this year as well
