Police spokeswoman Monika Kozumplíková informed about the case on Tuesday. According to the investigators, the woman dragged her victim from Zlín by the nose between 2019 and 2022, the pair first met on an internet dating site.
“She used a false name in front of the man. They mostly texted each other, they met a few times in Zlín, but there was never any intimate contact between them, their relationship was purely platonic,” the spokeswoman said.
According to criminologists, the woman knew well that this was a trusting and immature man who was easily influenced. What should have been the cause of the immaturity of an adult man, i.e. a mental disorder, the spokeswoman did not say.

The man lived in the belief that he had a girlfriend, after which he gave her the money she wanted from him in full confidence. For example, just two weeks after meeting him, he was supposed to send her 6,000 crowns for rent, other times it was about debts and other needs. But according to the police, her reasons were fictitious.
“He gave her almost a million crowns in cash, which he drew from his parents’ savings, but he always said that it was only a loan. He borrowed another half a million for her himself from various banks. He never knew his girlfriend’s real name, did not know where she lived, nor did he know her family situation,” mentioned Kozumplíková.
The police did not say when and under what circumstances the suspicion of fraud arose. The spokeswoman said that during the screening, her colleagues found out the true identity of the woman with whom, among other things, enforcement authorities are conducting a total of 12 proceedings for a total of 240,000 crowns.
“She hasn’t worked anywhere in the last ten years. During the interrogation, she denied that she had received almost a million crowns in cash. In the case of other money that the man sent to her account, she explained that it was a gift and denied her guilt,” the spokeswoman said, adding that the woman, who has not yet been punished, faces up to eight years in prison after being accused of fraud.
