ČTK was told by regional emergency medical service spokesperson Alena Kisiala and regional police spokesperson Andrea Muzikantová. Criminal investigators are still investigating the circumstances of the accident, according to Muzikantová, the tree fell probably because of the wind.
Police were notified of the fall around 3:00 p.m. The tree hit a 75-year-old cyclist, who died on the spot, as well as a 64-year-old woman who was walking by. “She was subsequently transported to the University Hospital in Hradec Králové with serious injuries,” said the police spokeswoman. Firefighters were also on the scene, cutting the tree and removing it.
