Investigators from the Děčín police department told journalists this on Wednesday.
Among the defendants are representatives of the driving school, the examiner and an interpreter. Another of the examiners died during the investigation.
Commissioners received bribes from driving schools from all over the Czech Republic. Hundreds of people face prosecution for false witness statements.
The same number of tests as in Ústí
In 2019, the Ministry of Transport drew the police’s attention to unfair conduct, which seemed suspicious that the same number of people in Varnsdorf, with a population of fifteen thousand, were taking exams at the town hall as in Ústí nad Labem, with a population of one hundred thousand.
“They were supposed to repeatedly provide financial and other bribes to the examiners for the fact that, as examiners, they check and correct the tests of the applicants for driving licenses,” police spokeswoman Jana Slámová said to the examiners in 2019.
