Russia is David in this case because there are at least 50 countries against us with their weapons and all these supplies,” Golovanov says in a clip from a Russian TV broadcast shared on Twitter by Julia Davis, a journalist who follows Russian media.

In the next part of the speech shared by Davis, the Russian presenter describes the biblical story of David and Goliath and grafts it onto the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine seen through the Russian lens.
It recalls how the much smaller herdsman David, according to the biblical 1st book of Samuel, hit the tall armored warrior Goliath in the forehead with a sling and killed him on the spot. Then he cut off his head with his sword.
“We will deal with the head of this junkie Goliath in the same way. There is no other way. There is no other way out of this,” continued Golovanov, explaining that the moment the drones attack Red Square, the situation is already serious. Not because they could do real damage, but because they employ security forces directly in Russia and not somewhere in distant Syria.
