According to Sasin, EuRoPol GAZ is demanding around 850 million zlotys as compensation for unpaid claims with Gazprom from earlier years. Gazprom did not have to pay these claims under the condition that it would supply gas through Poland until 2045 and that EuRoPol GAZ would earn from the transportation of these supplies.
“The gas that was supposed to flow through Poland is not flowing, so Poland has the right to demand a refund,” Sasin said. He added that EuRoPol GAZ will also demand over five billion zlotys as compensation for lost profits from gas transportation fees as part of the arbitration.
