The head of the occupation administration of the peninsula, Crimean Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov, announced this on Wednesday, after members of the local parliament voted to expand the list of “nationalized property” of nationals of “enemy countries” by another 57 properties. The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstatinov, commented on the seizure of Zelensky’s apartment, saying that it was “of course not a particularly significant loss for him”.
Among other things, the list also includes a working children’s camp in the city of Alushta, which belongs to the Ukrainian company Ťažavotrans in Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk in Russian).
“Enemies will not profit”
According to the Moscow Times, Aksyonov specified that the said apartment was bought in 2013 by Zelensky’s wife, Olena, together with several other assets. It is said that it was also seized. “As we promised, the enemies of Russia will not profit in Crimea,” added Aksyonov.
Russia has been occupying the Ukrainian peninsula since 2014. At that time, it annexed it to its territory, but most of the world does not recognize this. As of February 2023, Russian authorities have seized approximately 700 properties owned by Ukrainian entities.
