A senior shot a woman in the head during a robbery of a gambling house in Olomouc, received a life sentence for murder – Nauzal

Since 1966, he has been tried a total of thirteen times, mostly for violent criminal activity, and spent 48 years in prison. In 1983, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison for murder. While serving his sentence in Leopoldov, he killed his fellow prisoner with a hammer. He was last released from prison at the beginning of February last year.

According to the expert, the resocialization of a man with a dissocial personality disorder is basically impossible. He added that he had not encountered a similar case in his practice. “Usually, impulsivity declines with age. Here, the readiness for an impulsive aggressive outburst is still present,” said the expert.

According to the indictment, the senior, after entering the gaming room, pointed the revolver he had stolen from his grandson at the woman, saying: “Honey, roll twenty thousand or you’re dead, that’s what I’m telling you.” The woman did not accede to his request, she refused to hand over the money. After a verbal fight, after she tried to take the defendant’s gun, according to prosecutor Jindřich Pazdera, he shot her in the head from close range.

He then hid the firearm in his waistband and left the scene. He threw the revolver into the bushes near the university dormitories, where it was found by detectives who arrested Hlubik a few hours after the crime at the nearby train station.

The defendant, who came to Olomouc from Ostrava by train on the fateful day, claimed in court that he was sent to the gaming room by a mysterious voice that told him via telepathy that there was a woman there who owed 20,000 crowns. He was allegedly asked to collect money from her.

“I did not want to kill the woman under any circumstances,” the defendant claimed, saying that he had no idea that she had been hit by a shot when he left the game room. And certainly not in the head, because during the fight, as he claimed, he was aiming for her shoulder. He also argued that he can’t see with his right eye and only outlines with his left. In addition, he was said to be in shock, stressed and confused immediately before the shot. However, according to the plaintiff, it was a purposeful statement.

He also rejected Hlubik’s statement that it was not actually an assault. “I didn’t need to mug someone,” claimed the defendant, arguing that he had a ZTP/P card and received over 19,000 crowns in allowances due to visual impairments.

The public prosecutor identified as key evidence the camera recording, on which the entire action of the defendant is captured live, as well as the camera recordings of the city police capturing the man after the crime.

According to the prosecutor, the woman unfortunately underestimated the whole situation, in addition to a selfish motive, the defendant also cited a revenge motive. “For not being intimidated and showing him enough respect,” noted the prosecutor.

He proposed a life sentence for Hlubik, even taking into account his criminal past. “I am afraid, regardless of the defendant’s older age and his relatively poor state of health, that he still poses a risk to those around him and will continue to pose this risk as long as he is with us. It completely lacks respect for human life,” Pazdera emphasized.
