Slovak police said on Friday that they are investigating the case. “The body of a 66-year-old man without signs of life was found yesterday in one of the cottage locations in Košice, and the body of a 43-year-old woman without signs of life was found in a neighboring cottage after midnight today,” the Slovak police stated.
The police have not yet confirmed the cause of death. “In both cases, an autopsy was ordered, which will confirm or deny whether the liquid they ingested played a role in their death,” the Slovak police added.
Paramedics reported that a 43-year-old man was taken to the hospital.
“On Friday night, we admitted a patient suspected of ingesting methanol. He is currently stabilized and receiving intensive treatment,” said Monika Krišková, spokeswoman for the L. Pasteur Košice University Hospital.
