The first guest will be actor Hynek Čermák. David Hrbek, lecturer at the Museum of Art in Olomouc, has many years of experience with similar talk shows. He led them in the Olomouc Theater of Music, for two decades he moderated Scenic Interviews also in Prague’s Švandov Theater, where he interviewed more than 180 guests, among whom were, for example, Václav Havel and Suzanne Vega.
“David Hrbek’s talk show brings a variety of repertoire for our viewers, who have been popular with this format in the past. It is now becoming a regular part of the Sunday program. David Hrbek has been doing a similar show for many years at Švand’s theater, where it is very popular, so we believe that it will win over the Olomouc audience as well. Famous personalities from the world of film will be presented on the stage of the Moravian Theatre. The actor Hynek Čermák accepted the invitation to the premiere, and the actor Václav Kopta to the November one,” theater spokeswoman Pavlína Dočkalová told ČTK today.
The show has been being prepared in the theater since spring, for Hrbek the offer to hold this show in a theater with a capacity of approximately 400 seats was a challenge. “I myself am curious whether it will be possible to create an intimate atmosphere in such a large space,” Hrbek told ČTK today. The show will be offered by the theater seven to eight times a season, it is planned from October to May except December. The presenter’s brother, the director of the Švand Theater, Daniel Hrbek, will take care of the sound of the program. “We expect a duration of approximately 90 minutes. One guest will always be invited, which is an advantage, topics can be explored more deeply. I’m ready to squeeze as much as I can out of them,” noted Hrbek.
Hynk Čermák will be interviewed first by the moderator on Sunday, October 15, and Václav Kopta will be next on Sunday, November 5. We are talking about other guests, the moderator wants to invite other well-known actors and actresses, as well as personalities from the music industry, to the Olomouc stage. “One of the selection criteria is that the guest must speak. When a guest gives a terse answer, it’s hell for the moderator, I already know something about that. I think that the selected personalities will playfully embrace this space with their personality,” added Hrbek. In the Olomouc Theater of Music, he interviewed Věra Čáslavská, Marta Kubišová and Aneta Langerová in this way in the past. In Švand’s theater, his questions were answered by, for example, Marek Eben, Jiří Suchý, Kateřina Tučková or Lou Reed.
David Hrbek works in the educational department of the Museum of Art in Olomouc. He is the author of several books of interviews with personalities of social and cultural life, as well as, for example, the short story book Twenty Glowing Gems.
