The bike path will be near the shopping area, city hall representatives told ČTK. The construction will take about half a year, the cost is 4.4 million crowns. A larger part could be covered by subsidies.
The trail will be along the I/47 road in the direction from the roundabout at Velké Dlážka to Lýsky. “The trail is supposed to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists in this peripheral part of the city, which is heavily congested thanks to the commercial zone,” said Deputy Mayor Vladimír Lichnovský (ANO). According to the deputy for transport Tomáš Navrátil (ANO), the route will follow the already built cycle paths around the city bypass in Lipnická Street and the Velká Dlážka – Předmostí cycle path.
The new trail will be built in four stages, the builders have now started the first and third stages. The first of them, almost 200 meters long and three meters wide, will be created by connecting the path to the current path for pedestrians and cyclists near Lidl. The third stage, 203 meters long, will lead in the green belt along the I/47 road, near the Emos campus. “The trail is designed to be 2.5 meters wide, and its construction will take longer, as part of it is the relocation of the gas plant,” added Lenka Chalupová, spokeswoman for the Přerov municipality. The remaining two stages, which will lead along Kaufland to the new shopping area and in the final, will go from Emos to the local part of Lýska, will be designed in the near future.
Přerov last completed a major investment in cycle paths last November, when the last section of the route from the local part of Předmostí towards the city center opened in the city. This is a section that will be followed by a new cycle path. It also includes a tube for cyclists, which is under the railway line. The entire route, 166 meters long, including the tube, cost approximately 29 million crowns. Cyclists can reach it comfortably from Předmostí via Velká Dlážka towards the city center, where they can also connect to the bike path completed last year in Palackého Street.
