Pupils of primary and secondary schools in the region can send their proposals. The author of the winning proposal will receive 10,000 crowns, spokeswoman for the governor’s office Nikola Birklenová told ČTK.
“The logo and mascot should represent the values of the Moravian-Silesian Region. They can be inspired by history, traditions, sports, culture or perhaps the nature of our region. The task of young authors is not only to send us the proposal itself, each competition work must also contain an idea or a story that explains the connection with our region. In addition, the logo and mascot must be able to be modified into pictograms of individual sports,” said Deputy Governor for Education and Sports Stanislav Folwarczny (ODS).
Hundreds of the most talented athletes from all over the country participate in the Olympics. They will compete in acrobatic, alpine and cross-country skiing, biathlon, figure skating, ice hockey, snowboarding, sport climbing, chess and dance sports.
“Pictograms can either be part of a graphic contest entry or a story document can verbally describe what the pictograms would look like. Young artists can submit competition works from October 16 to November 10,” said the spokeswoman. The first three places will be rewarded with vouchers for the purchase of goods worth 10,000, 5,000 and 3,000 crowns. The competition conditions are also available on the region’s website.
The Children’s and Youth Olympics is a national competition of regional expeditions, which has been held annually since 2003 and is intended for young athletes between the ages of 12 and 16. The Olympics are held each time in a different region of the republic. The event took place in the region 11 years ago. In 2025, young athletes will perform in the Pustevny and Bílá centers as well as in several towns in the region. In 2027, the same event will take place in the Pilsen Region.
