The Water Bearers promise the most attractive football spectacle during the cup week with the Czech representatives from Slavia’s trip to Rome. After all, even José Mourinho, the Portuguese coaching legend, is looking forward to the big match.
This time, in the absence of Jaromír Bosák, the water carriers gathered in a rather unconventional composition. Karel Tvaroh and Luďek Mádl were joined by Roman Kovařík, a sports expert from Fortuna betting office.
And the talk turned even further back to representation. “Fortuna can imagine that Jaroslav Šilhavý will lead the team through the qualifying difficulties to advance to the Euro tournament. But at the tournament itself, the team will be led by another manager,” noted Roman Kovařík.
He also commented on what the participation or non-participation of the Czech team in the Euro tournament means for the bookmaker and its business models.
He also mentioned Martin Svědík, the coach of Slovácko, among the adepts to take over the national team. The protagonists of the podcast got to him through the analysis of the league match between Slavia and Slovácko.
Weakened in terms of personnel, Slavia could not break through Slovácko’s staggered ranks for a long time. In the end, they won 2:0, but home coach Trpišovský appreciated how well the guests prepared for the match.
“Martin Svědík is famous for it. He can prepare his team appropriately for practically any opponent. But even so, I could imagine a change of engagement in the near future. And representation is one of the options,” Kovařík offers.
According to Mourinho, Slavia is in the Champions League
Slavia’s cup trip to the Italian capital became one of the pillars of the podcast. The mutual confrontation between Slavia and Roma AS will take place this Thursday, i.e. October 26, at the famous Stadio Olimpico.
Incidentally, it was there that the famous quarter-final battle of the UEFA Cup took place in 1996, from which, after extra time and a goal by Jiří Vávra, the team led by coach Cipro managed to advance to the top four in the competition years ago.
This will be the Europa League and the group stage. And if Romelu Lukaku comes on, it will remind fans of much fresher memories of the Champions League and clashes with Inter Milan. Another big name that AS Roma offers today is, of course, José Mourinho. But it’s a bit more complicated with him.
“Due to the disciplinary punishment he received after the Europa League final, Mourinho will be in the press boxes and in the changing room in both duels with Slavia, he has to go to the stands,” points out Luděk Mádl. In addition, Mourinho also received a similar punishment for Serie A.
The former coach of Real, Chelsea, Porto and Inter has already made it clear that Jindřich Trpišovský’s team deserves respect. “It’s an excellent team. We will play against a team that could easily play in the Champions League. It will be very challenging,” said the 60-year-old coach.
“It must be said that the Romans do not present themselves convincingly in the league. Monza managed to create solid chances against them at the weekend even with ten men. In any case, Slavia will face a tough challenge,” reflects Kovařík.
The water carriers agreed that it will depend on who can get together healthily within the Slavic team. With the fact that defending Romelo Lukaku will probably be a more viable task for Igoh Ogbu than, for example, for Taras Kačaraba.
Will the Czechs leave Leverkusen?
The water carriers discussed Pilsen’s personnel crisis at the position of goalkeeper before the match in Zagreb and, of course, also focused on the upcoming battle between the Spartans and the Rangers. They even tried to advise coach Priske what typology of players he could prefer in the starting line-up this time.
There was also an analysis of the FC Zlín club, which is going from disgrace to disgrace, most recently defined by the 5:9 defeat by Mladá Boleslav.
The Water Carriers’ gaze also turned to the English Premier League, especially towards the Chelsea-Arsenal derby and the Aston Villa-West Ham match. Roman Kovařík made an interesting forecast about the future of the Czech national team in Bayer Leverkusen.
You will learn about all this in the new episode of the Water Bearers podcast. You can listen to it in the player at the beginning of the article.
