On December 16, a funeral mass for former Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg will take place in St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. The APA agency informed about it today. Schwarzenberg died last week, aged 85.
The funeral mass will be led by the Archbishop of Vienna and Cardinal Christoph Schönborn. High-ranking politicians and diplomats are also expected to attend the commemoration.

The official funeral with state honors will take place on December 9 in St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle. Prague Archbishop Jan Graubner will celebrate the Mass, and priest Tomáš Halík will preach. The casket will be on public display from Wednesday, December 6 to Friday, December 8 at the Church of the Maltese Knights of Our Lady under the Chain in Prague.
Schwarzenberg, a member of one of the oldest noble families in Europe, died on Sunday, November 12 in Vienna, where he had been hospitalized for the past few days due to long-term health problems. Before that he was in a hospital in Prague.
