The event will traditionally start with the festive lighting of the Christmas tree. ČTK was told by the spokeswoman of the town hall, Jana Musálková Jeckelová.
“We have prepared the winter cinema for December 4, when we will screen the classic Christmas fairy tale Three Nuts for Cinderella, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year. The day before, on Sunday, December 3, we start Advent, light the Christmas tree and open the gates of the town. Children will be able to start writing their first messages to Santa, meet impressive angelic beings, make in the workshops, try out the carousel or feed the animals in the enclosure,” said Mayor Petr Korč (Naše Město FM).
The Advent town will offer visitors, for example, an afternoon music program, a weekend fairy-tale theater performance, Advent workshops and other attractions. It will be open until Saturday, December 23. “On náměstí Svobody, folklore ensembles, elementary art schools, dulcimer musicians and a number of regional and local bands and performers will perform in the program. People will hear, for example, the band Buty, Markéta Konvičková with her band, or the excellent Slovak band The Backwards playing the hits of the famous The Beatles,” said Linda Hartenbergerová from the organizing city company KulturaFM. Visitors can also expect a performance by this year’s winners of the Beskydy Nightingale or the Czech Republic Sings Carols event, which the city regularly participates in every year.
“After the Christmas holidays, we will meet in the week before New Year’s Eve from December 27 to 29 for the program ‘…it’s not over yet’. On these days, there will be an afternoon music program on Náměstí Svobody, and visitors can enjoy traditional hot drinks,” added Hartenbergerová.
According to the spokesperson, the advent time in the city will also be made more pleasant by another program in the city halls and in selected places. There are concerts and theater performances or special screenings in the Vlast Cinema intended for viewers of all ages.
