Police accuse four women and two men of blackmail and failure to provide help in connection with the death of a sect member during forest rituals near the Český Šternberk castle in the Benešovsk region, the server iRozhlas.cz reported today. The healer was later killed by two of his followers, the case is being dealt with by the Municipal Court in Prague.
The case happened last August. According to criminologists, the member of the sect stayed naked in the woods on the healer’s orders and the others went to check on him. One of them beat him on the head, stomach and limbs with a wooden stick for several days.
“Criminal officers accuse these persons of the crime of extortion and the offense of failure to provide assistance, for which, in the event of a final conviction, they may face prison sentences ranging from two to eight years, or from eight to sixteen years,” Central Bohemian Police spokesperson Vlasta Suchánková told the server.
