Marianna Budanova, the wife of Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyryl Budanova, was poisoned, The Kyiv Independent reported today. The Ukrainian website Babel writes that she was hospitalized and doctors diagnosed her with heavy metal poisoning.
“These substances are by no means used in everyday life or in a military environment. Their presence may indicate a targeted attempt to poison a specific person,” explains the Babel site’s source. According to the website, the Ukrainian authorities have launched an investigation into attempted murder in connection with the poisoning.
Budanova was hospitalized after her health worsened. As ČTK reported with reference to the Ukrainska pravda server, the poisoning was also confirmed in several intelligence officers.
