Ten people have been injured and five remain under the rubble of buildings due to a Russian attack by six S-300 missiles on the Pokrovsky raion (district) of Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. This was announced this morning on the Telegram platform by Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported shooting down 14 of the 20 attack drones sent to the country by Russian invasion forces.
“Pokrovsk, Novohrodivka and Myrnohrad came under shelling,” wrote Minister Klymenko, according to whom four children were also among the wounded. Rescuers are searching for five more people in the ruins of buildings. According to him, the Russians damaged, among other things, apartment and private buildings and a police station. Rescuers are on the scene. The affected villages are located approximately 20 to 30 kilometers from the front line.
Moscow has not yet commented on this information, but it has long denied that it targeted civilians, however, many of them died in Russian attacks that hit, among other things, residential areas or energy facilities. S-300 missiles are anti-aircraft missiles used by Russia against ground targets.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russians attacked the Pokrovsky District with eight S-300 missiles and sent 20 Shahed combat drones to Ukraine, of which Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 14. He does not mention the other six. According to the Ukrainska pravda server, the Ukrainian authorities previously reported that the debris of a downed drone fell on the territory of an unspecified former plant in the Khmelnytskyi region, and there were no injuries in the incident.
