Czech Prime Minister Fiala spoke today at the COP28 climate conference, which is taking place in Dubai this year, in addition to American Vice President Kamala Harris and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. Statesmen these days discuss how to prevent the catastrophic consequences of global warming.
Like other summit participants, Fiala called for climate responsibility.,,Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges of our time. The associated risks affect everyone. But some regions face greater dangers than others,” said the Czech Prime Minister at the beginning of his short speech.
According to him, in the next four years, the Czech Republic is ready to contribute up to four million dollars (roughly 90 million crowns) to the new Green Climate Fund, the launch of which the statesmen already agreed on Thursday. This funding will help developing countries face climate change and adapt to its impacts.
The Czech Prime Minister assured the participants of the summit that the Czech Republic supports the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the climate goals of the EU, including the goal of building a carbon-neutral economy by 2050. He also defended the use of nuclear energy.
