The Israel Defense Forces say they have killed Hamas commander Haitham Chuwajari. He made the announcement on Monday morning post on the X network Israeli army account. Battalion Commander Shati was to be eliminated using a fighter jet.
According to the Israeli military, Chuwajari was supposed to command a battalion that participated in the October 7 attacks by Hamas on Israel. He was also supposed to secure Hamas activity in the main Shifa hospital in Gaza and command the fighting against IDF forces in the Shati camp, a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Gaza, writes the BBC.
The Shifa hospital was attacked by the Israeli army two weeks ago, claiming that it was harboring a staff of Hamas terrorists.
On Saturday, the IDF killed another Hamas battalion commander, the terrorist responsible for directing the attack on Nahal Oz on October 7, The Jerusalem Post reports. The IDF subsequently warned the remaining commanders of the Shejaiya battalion that they had the option of either surrendering or being eliminated in a similar manner.
