According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), during the preparation of the agreement, which is supposed to end the refusal of overtime work by thousands of hospital doctors, it was not only about salaries and wages, but also about working and educational conditions. He said this today before describing the agreement with the General Health Insurance Company (VZP) and representatives of trade unions and the Czech Medical Chamber (ČLK).
After the signing of the agreement, the vice president of the Czech Medical Chamber and head of the Young Doctors Section, Jan Přáda, called on doctors to withdraw their notices from overtime work. According to him, however, it is necessary to observe the limits set by the Labor Code.
According to the promise, the monthly salary of the doctor is to increase by 5,000 to 15,000 crowns, and that of other employees by five percent. The Prime Minister emphasized that 9.8 billion crowns for the increase in salaries and wages comes from the public health insurance system.
“It is not money that would go extra from the state budget. It’s money that was in the system, we just guarantee that it will go to salaries and wages,” Fiala said before signing the agreement. According to him, the negotiations were not only about the salaries and wages of health workers, but also about working conditions and education. “They take into account the demanding work of doctors and paramedics, but also the need for further education,” he said.
“The result is an agreement in which everyone had to compromise on something, everyone had to back down. But thanks to that, it can be expected that it will be fulfilled,” said ČLK president Milan Kubek. According to him, it gives time to prepare further changes.
