The BBC reports that the son of the current US president, Hunter Biden, is facing further charges, this time for tax evasion.
The nine-count indictment charges Hunter Biden, the son of the current US president, with three felonies and six misdemeanors, including failure to file and pay taxes, false tax returns and tax evasion.
In a 56-page indictment filed in California, prosecutors say he spent his money on “drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, cars, clothes and other personal items, basically everything but taxes.”
Hunter Biden was charged with three counts of perjury
Hunter Biden was also charged with unlawful possession of firearms in Delaware in September. The 53-year-old son of President Joe Biden has already declared his innocence in the gun possession case.
The White House did not comment on the new allegations Thursday night. They come as congressional Republicans put Hunter Biden’s business activities at the center of an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, who is running for re-election next year.
If convicted in the tax case, Hunter Biden faces up to 17 years in prison.
