From January, the minimum wage will increase by 1,600 crowns to 18,900 crowns, i.e. by 9.2 percent. Four of the eight stages of the guaranteed wage, which is paid according to the demands, responsibility and expertise of the work, will also be raised.
The three lowest levels will increase by 1,600 crowns, and the highest by 3,200 crowns. The regulation was approved by the government today. After the cabinet meeting, Minister of Labor Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) announced this at a press conference.
The unions advocated a more significant increase in all amounts. According to employers, the minimum wage should grow at a slower rate than other earnings in the Czech Republic, and guaranteed wages should be disconnected from it.
According to estimates by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, wage costs for entrepreneurs should rise by 5.21 billion crowns next year after the ordered addition.
Employers in the public sector should pay 240 million crowns more. The state should receive 2.16 billion crowns more in social and health contributions.
