The government of Petr Fiala is in a difficult period. She is trusted by a record low number of people and there is also high dissatisfaction with the overall political situation in the country. The biggest decline in the positive outlook on politics occurred among young people, of whom only less than a quarter remain at least partially satisfied.
This is not surprising. While before the elections both coalitions competed in what they could offer young voters (and were rewarded for this with many votes), after the elections their interest in the youngest generation cooled considerably. And the topics that interest young people have completely faded away again.
The availability of housing, which young people indicate in surveys as their number one problem, has not only not improved over the past two years, which probably could not even be realistically expected, but nowhere was there much hope that it could possibly happen in the foreseeable future of several decades.
So does this mean that Petr Fiala, like Andrej Babiš and Alena Schillerová, have to make tiktok dances or vlogs from their visits to music festivals, when it obviously works for politicians? Maybe.
Alternatively, he may try a different strategy. Which one, Jindřich Šídlo will tell you in the current episode of Happy Monday. You can play it in the video at the beginning of the article and you will learn, among other things, what the best Chinese spying system is (TikTok is not) or which three P’s the Together coalition offered to young voters before the election.
The satirical program Šťastné Monday is published every Monday at eight in the morning on the Seznam Zpráv website. You can always listen to the new Šťastný podcast on the same day, i.e. tonight, in which we look at the topics of this episode (and not only them) in even more detail.
On Tuesdays, we send a satirical newsletter of Jindřich Šídl and his team. Glosses about current political events and behind-the-scenes “whispers” not only about Happy Monday. Then every Saturday read Šťastná slovo, a regular entertaining gloss by Jindřich Šídel. And don’t forget to follow us on our Facebook too, XInstagram and Media List, where you can find even more from Happy Monday.
