Police said hundreds of officers are continuing their search operation in Klánovické les – looking for anything connected to Friday’s double murder.
The forest is closed to the public due to a police search and security operation, which the police officers on the incoming roads and the Klánovice district warned its residents about via mobile radio and the web.
The search in the forest took place all Tuesday – the action started at 08:00 and ended with darkness around 16:00. According to the police, the results from a tactical point of view cannot be published. Police officers from local and district departments, from the special order unit, police officers on horses and cynologists with dogs were deployed in the search.
Police officers found two dead bodies in Klánovický les on Friday afternoon after a witness reported hearing gunshots around 3:00 p.m. According to the media, the victims are a thirty-two-year-old man and his two-month-old daughter. The police have previously stated that solving this double murder is their priority, and a team of several dozen of the most experienced criminologists is working on the case.
The nature reserve Klánovický les is located on the eastern edge of Prague in the territory of the Klánovice, Horní Počernice and Újezd nad Lesy districts. It covers an area of over 285 hectares. Oak forests predominate in the forest, and there are marked hiking trails, including cycling routes.
It is not the first time that there has been a murder in the forest. In June 2014, Oldřich Konrád, who earned the nickname “Klánovický vrah”, shot and killed an amateur metal detector there. He thought she was going after his stash, where he had stashed items from thefts at family homes. Justice imposed an exceptional sentence of 25 years on him for murder and other crimes.
